Doug Liman will direct the film with Tom Cruise filmed in space

The new project of the protagonist of 'Mission: Impossible' will have the help of the International Space Station, NASA, and SpaceX, the company of Elon Musk.

The movie with Tom Cruise to be shot literally in space has already found its director. According to Deadline, the chosen for such a colossal unprecedented task has been Doug Liman, who had previously worked with Cruise in the titles Edge of Tomorrow and American Made. But both, who are also developing the Edge of Tomorrow 2, will not be alone and will receive help from NASA and SpaceX, the company of Elon Musk.

Still untitled, the production will feature a draft by Doug Liman himself and will be shot in part on the International Space Station with the cooperation of NASA and Space X. With Tom Cruise starring in increasingly extreme feats in Mission: Impossible - climbing mountains, getting on a plane just before takeoff, HALO jumps ...-, space was the next logical step.

Although not confirmed, rumors suggest that the film in question could end up being the famous Luna Park, announced in 2015, about a team of thieves planning a robbery on the moon. Whatever happens, both Liman and Cruise have pending tasks before. The first has to finish Chaos Walking post-production, with Daisy Ridley and Tom Holland, while the second, with Top Gun: Maverick delayed until December, is looking forward to resuming the recording of Mission: Impossible 7 with Christopher McQuarrie, detained last March due to the COVID-19 crisis.
