Ridley Scott keeps thinking about making more 'Alien' movies

The director of 'Alien: Covenant' insists on his idea of linking the universe 'Prometheus' with that of 'Alien, the eighth passenger' but without offering new details.

"I think there is still a long way to go." With these words, Ridley Scott has said that the Alien franchise can still be expanded into new movies. The director of Alien: Covenant, in a meeting with the LA Times, has made it clear that ideas are not lacking for future new sequels and prequels.

"It seems to me that Alien should evolve again," says Scott in that virtual meeting. “When I was with the first movie I always thought about why a creature like this was created and why it traveled in what I have always believed to be a kind of warship, carrying these eggs as cargo. What was the purpose of the ship and what was the purpose of the eggs? Therein lies the crux of the matter: who, why and for what purpose is the new idea [of a future film], it seems to me. "

When I was with the first movie I always thought about why a creature like this was created and why it traveled in what I have always believed to be a kind of warship, carrying these eggs as cargo.

In this sense, Scott's statements are consistent about not a few hints that Alien: Covenant has a continuation and it is not the first time in recent years that Scott has dropped his intention to expand the Alien universe. In fact, he had already commented that he had a story that, titled Alien: Awakening (Alien: Covenant 2), would resume the story of David (Michael Fassbender) and the Engineers who survived his attempt to exterminate their species.

WHERE DID 'ALIEN' GO?
Still, the fate of the Alien saga remains unclear. Initially, the Gladiator director commented that he initially wanted to shoot up to four sequels; some statements that contradicted other previous ones in which Scott affirmed that there would be three films before the original film: "It will be Prometheus, Awakening, Covenant... an integral part of where this colonization ship is going... If this [Covenant] succeeds, and then the next one, then there will definitely be three more, "it said in March 2017.

The current statements of the filmmaker point out that Awakening could be a reality, but they do not anticipate anything regarding the series of the Alien universe that was being developed for the Hulu platform. It remains to be seen, therefore, if with the advance of the de-escalation all these questions are finally clarified and the different productions around the xenoforms end up being confirmed.
